The Office of Emergency Services is partnering with the San Francisco Fire Department to host a Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) certification training at SF State from March 10th-12th, 2026!
NERT is a free training program for individuals, neighborhood groups and community-based organizations in San Francisco. Through this program, individuals will learn the basics of personal preparedness and prevention. The training also includes hands-on disaster skills that will help individuals respond to a personal emergency as well as act as members of a neighborhood response team.
Class schedule:
Class 1: Earthquake Awareness, Preparedness, and Hazard Mitigation
Class 2: Basic Disaster Skills
Class 4: Light Search and Rescue
Class 5: Team Organization and Management
Class 6: Skills Development and Application

This training will be three full days, 8:30am - 5:00pm, and you must be present in person each day to certify. For recertification, join on Wednesday, March 12th. This training will be held in the Annex 1 event space.
